Peer Mentor

Eliot Community Human Services’ Young Adult Vocational Program is seeking a peer mentor to empower and support young adults with mental illness in the Arlington area.

Responsibilities are to:
Provide peer counseling and support drawing on their own experiences to validate consumers’ experiences.
Provide guidance to consumers in recovery and encourage consumers to participate in the recovery process.
Assist consumers in managing issues of stigma.
Transport consumers to work sites, meetings, daily activities, appointments, and activities as needed

Qualifications:
High School Diploma with at least 1 year of paid or volunteer experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness. Must be either receiving services or received services in the past from the mental health system and have self-knowledge to manage their mental illness and have an established recovery process.
