JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Peer Navigator

COLLEGE/SCHOOL/ DEPT: Boston Medical Center Department of Psychiatry

REPORTS TO: Project Manager
SALARY RANGE: Up to $15/hour, 20 hours/week

POSITION SUMMARY: The Center for Public Mental Health Research at Boston Medical Center (BMC) seeks 6 part-time Peer Navigators to act as liaisons and coordinate care of individuals receiving outpatient mental health services at Boston Medical Center (and Codman Square Health Center) among primary, specialty and psychiatric providers. Peer Navigators. main responsibilities include but are not limited to identifying barriers to treatment, arranging for needed supports and enabling services (e.g., health insurance eligibility, transportation, interpreter services), assisting participants with implementation and maintenance of treatment plans, monitoring adherence to treatment plans, and providing on-going health education, emotional support, and encouragement. Peer navigators will receive training on the BMC model of patient navigation prior to working with program participants.

Certified Peer Specialist, or related work experience (e.g., experience working with mental health consumers; experience working in a peer environment)

Ability to travel (car not required)
